Two pedestrians are recovering after they were hit whilecrossing a busy Fayetteville intersection on electric scooters.

The pedestrians were hit before 4 p.m. Tuesday at theintersection of Raeford Road and McPherson Church Road. The entireincident was captured on a driver's dash camera.

Juana Estrada was sitting in her car Tuesday waiting for thelight to change with her dash cam running. She said she couldn't believe hereyes.

"They proceeded to cross the street and in the cornerof my eye I saw a vehicle move and then I turned and I saw that blue truckstriking the lady, the pedestrian," Estrada said.

Estrada said the male pedestrian jumped in front of thewoman so she wouldn't be hit by another vehicle.

Estrada's dash cam video shows the bright blue pickup truckhit the people on the scooters, but what happened next is what shocked her.

"That driver, instead of stopping, proceeded to yellsomething out of the window and just drove off," Estrada said."Luckily somebody stopped to help out and make sure they crossed thestreet safely."

The light was green when the pickup truck drove away.

Estrada made a U-turn to check on the pedestrians and tellthem about her dash cam video. They told her the driver yelled at them beforehe drove away, heading west on Raeford Road.

According to Estrada, the pedestrians said the man stuck hishead out the window and yelled that he didn't care because the "light wasalready green."

The pedestrians, who only suffered minor injuries, walkedaway after the crash. Both were shaken up, and one complained of a headache andwas waiting to be taken to the hospital.

In addition to Estrada's dash cam video, Fayetteville policemay have captured the incident on a security camera posted at thatintersection.

"It's scary," Estrasda said. "It could be mychild crossing the street, it could be an elderly person, it could be a familymember ... someone that you know, and the fact that this driver didn't evencare or bother to make sure they were okay."

The victims filed a police report, and an officer has beenassigned to investigate the crash and search for the driver.

Fayetteville police are asking anyone with video orinformation about the crash to call the Fayetteville Police Department at910-433-1529 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
